Hot drink and a bit of cake for £3!

Us Urban folk love our brews and we love cake too, so we thought we’d run a ‘tea and cake’ deal.

We’ll sort you out with a cup of tea and slice of cake for £3 (quite a bargain) and if you don’t fancy a cuppa, that’s fine, we’ll swap your tea for a coffee.

So what are you waiting for? Come down and see us for a natter and we’ll sort you out with this tasty deal. X

Murray madness!

Murray madness!

Well so far this week we’ve had lots of rain and that means one thing – Wimbledon has started! ;)

Our TV screens are now filled with the familiar images of Andy Murray, green grass and umpires galore, and as you love it so much, we are going to have all the action on the box all day, every day until it’s all over on Sunday July 3rd.

All the tennis action will make you rather hungry though, so we’re putting on special ‘afternoon teas’. Tuck into sandwiches, scones, strawberries and tea (or coffee) galore all for £12.50 (pp) – by the way, when we say afternoon tea, we actually mean you’ll be able to enjoy at any time of the day, it’s just that’s what it’s called!

If you want something with a little more kick than caffeine, we’ll swap your warm drink for a glass of bubbly for an extra fiver.

Just give us a bell on: 01202 301509 if you want more info.

Update on the Urban Farm!

'Home Guard' potatoes

Our last ‘Urban farm’ blog was over a month ago (my how time flies!) so we thought we’d better blog again as things have come on quite a lot at our little piece of land in Sopley. So much so in fact, that we have now taken our first harvest!

A few of us urbanites brought back a host of goodies the other day including: ‘red duke’ potatoes, ‘home guard’ potatoes, red beetroot and white beetroot (yes, that’s right, white beetroot! There is such a thing and it’s proper tasty). We also had our first rhubarb crop directly from the hotel veggie and herb garden.

Our talented chefs are now incoroporating these bits into our Urban dishes, so keep an eye on the specials boards!

We’ve got heaps of other stuff planted and we should get more tasty treats appearing throughout the summer and autumn so we will sure to keep you posted. In the meantime, if you want to know more just ask the team when you come in as we are very passionate about growing our own and will be very happy to chat to you about it all for hours! ;)

In fact we’re so passionate, we even made our own video of our last visit. Check it out!

Room three at Urban Beach

And breathe! We all had a rather hectic week last week here at Urban Beach following our TV debut on Channel 4’s ‘Four in a Bed’ AKA, FIAB, but we’re not complaining as it was all good fun. We also had some fantastically, wonderfully lovely comments from you guys so it was all worth it.

For those of you that are not sure what we’re going on about, FIAB is basically a programme where four B&B/small hotel owners all take it in turns to stay at each other’s venues. At the end of each stay everyone says how much they would have paid to stay overnight against how much the room really cost – simple.

For those of you that haven’t seen it yet, scroll down to the last paragraph now as we are going to give away the ending …

To everyone else who did see it, we’re OK about not winning – we really truly are, in fact we were pretty sure we wouldn’t win in the ‘B&B’ category as we’re clearly top end with our prices. Each property shown was really targeted at different markets, no better, no worse, just different, so it was just important to us to come across as doing the best at what we do in our area to the 2-3 million viewers (whoa!) who watched.

We had a good few laughs, met some wonderful people with some great venues, got some great PR and we’re all going to meet up again in Blackpool later this year for a reunion!

So there you have it, come in and see us if you can to find out what all the fuss is about. We’d love to see you whether you’re staying for a couple of nights, having a bit of dinner, or you’re just popping in for a bit of coffee and cake – it’s all fine by us.

If you did miss it, then you’ll be able to catch-up on 4Od by clicking here:

Happy viewing! ;) xxxxx

New drinks to the Urban Reef bar

Reef's 'Urban Hobana'

Well summer showed its face at the weekend and while the sun seems to have disappeared for now, we’re sure it’ll be back again soon. So to get you feeling all summery, our little sister, The Urban Reef, has come up with a few new drinks!

The Reef team are now stocking Rekorderlig cider from Sweden, choosing the original apple and the wild berries flavours, which seem to have been flying out from behind the bar. Served in a tall glass with ice and fruit – a very refreshing experience. Keep an eye out over the Wimbledon season (Monday June 20thSunday July 3rd) as they’ll also be serving the strawberry & lime flavour and the Kiwi flavour will be making an appearance soon too!

The team have also come up with an alternative breakfast drink, the ‘Urban Hobana’. A mix of bananas, local honey, fresh lemon juice and some milk. You can choose to have it with a dash of cinnamon too, or have some cinnamon and oats on the side and mix as you wish! Who said breakfast was boring?
