Well, what a week we had last week! Some of our team took part in a challenge for the Good Food channel’s Monster Munchies TV programme, successfully dishing up a giant portion of fish and chips.
We were up against Bournemouth and Poole College and were tasked with creating a super sized version of much loved seaside dish, fish and chips, in just 24 hours.
It was quite surreal being followed around by a TV crew as we went about preparing and cooking our ingredients within the designated time frame, but great fun. We sourced a 6ft halibut (61kg!), used 40 cans of lager in our beer batter and peeled 60kg of potatoes!
At the end of the 24 hours both dishes were judged in Bournemouth Town Centre on their size, presentation and taste and once judging had commenced members of the public were invited to try each dish. A local homeless shelter also benefitted from food donations.
And one of the best bits was the presenter – retired English rugby player Matt Dawson!
Unfortunately we can’t tell you who won the challenge, so you’ll have to tune in to the Good Food Channel in November where all will be revealed!
